Ingredients
  

  • For the Chicken:
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup water
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Sauce:
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water to thicken
  • For the Stir-Fry:
  • 1 small red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper sliced
  • 1 cup green beans trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Chicken Batter:
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • In another bowl, whisk the egg and water.
  • Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  • Fry the Chicken:
  • Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
  • Make the Honey Sesame Sauce:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens (1-2 minutes). Remove from heat.
  • Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add bell peppers and green beans, cooking for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Toss Everything Together:
  • Add the fried chicken to the skillet with vegetables.
  • Pour the honey sesame sauce over and toss to coat evenly.
  • Garnish And Serve:
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or fried rice.

Notes

  • Make it healthier? Air-fry or bake the chicken at 400°F for 15 minutes instead of deep-frying.
  • Spicy version? Add ½ teaspoon chili flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
  • Want extra crispy chicken? Double fry the chicken pieces!
