Instructions

  • Prepare the Hash Brown Crust:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or quiche pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Press the hash brown mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared dish to form a crust.
  • Bake the crust for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Filling:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer the cooked bacon and shredded cheddar cheese over the baked crust. Sprinkle green onions on top if using.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the filling, ensuring it spreads evenly.
  • Bake the Quiche:
  • Return the quiche to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set and no longer jiggles when gently shaken.
  • Serve:
  • Allow the quiche to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Cheese Alternatives: Swap cheddar for Swiss, Gruyère, or a blend for a different flavor.
  • Make Ahead: The quiche can be baked ahead of time and reheated in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
  • Customizations: Add sautéed vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual slices in the microwave or oven.
