- 8 oz elbow macaroni or pasta of choice
- 2 cups small broccoli florets fresh or frozen
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk whole or 2%
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
- Pinch of paprika or mustard powder optional, for depth of flavor

Cook Pasta & Broccoli
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add macaroni and cook according to package directions.
In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add broccoli florets to the same pot.
Drain both and set aside.
Make Cheese Sauce
In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened (about 3–4 minutes).
Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and optional spices.
Add Cheese
Reduce heat to low. Stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Combine
Stir cooked pasta and broccoli back into the cheese sauce. Mix well until everything is coated.
Serve
Garnish with extra cheese or a sprinkle of paprika if desired. Serve warm!
